In 2005, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimated that 20 million people in the United States have the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and that six million new cases occur every year.  Of this number, it is estimated that 74% of the new cases occur in 15-24 year olds.

To help protect against cervical cancer and genital warts caused by HPV Gemini OBGYN,  offers the Gardasil® HPV Vaccination for girls and women between the ages of 9-26.  The HPV Vaccination can protect against HPV virus 6, 11, 16 and 18.  This vaccine consists of three injections given over a period of six months.

There are many reasons why a pap smear may be read as abnormal.  Our doctors will discuss any abnormal pap smear result in person and discuss all the different follow up options.  Options may include a repeat pap smear with or without HPV testing or a colposcopy.  (see colposcopy).  Our doctors abide by the ASCCP guidelines.  For more information, visit

Gynecological and pelvic ultrasounds are performed in the office by a certified ultrasound technician. The ultrasounds done by the technician are read by a board certified radiologist. Obstetrical sonograms are performed at a board certified Perinatalogist.
